A lifelong passion for innovation had Jay Gangnes asking whether his company name, JR Financial, added value by expressing what truly made his organization different. After trying an internal naming process, Jay contacted Coin with the mandate of renaming his enterprise. Our brand foundation-building process zeroed in on Jay’s love of Blue Ocean Strategy, the classic book that describes “red” oceans as those bloody from intense competition and “blue” oceans as new, unspoiled territories that we have the power to innovate. Building on the fact that the world has five oceans led to the creation of a new name that articulates an entirely new and blue place, Ocean 6®, as expressed by its positioning statement – A new world of wealth®.
