What a great piece of imagery from Russian goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, in description of the Canadian hockey players who pummelled his team in the quarterfinal match Wednesday night.
“They were much faster than us,” he said. “They came out like gorillas out of a cage.”
I love it, and not just because I am completely obsessed, like every other Canadian, with our men’s team winning hockey gold. I love and admire it, actually, because it is the kind of vivid imagery that we branders try to convey in the messaging we create for our clients. The Russian’s remarks literally make me see a bunch of giant hairy gorillas attacking Russian hockey players, which I find not only apt in the circumstances, but hilarious.
